Classical music for bedtime

We are in the middle of a fight me and my little one.  I think she should go to bed at a certain time and she disagrees.  It usually takes a good HOUR to get her to sleep and then she wakes up two to…Continue

Teething

So our little one is teething, LOTS of fun!  She got her first two teeth with only a runny nose (I thought she had her first cold).  Now she is getting more in and man is she a crank pot.  Sleep has…Continue

Spanking for or against?

Recently I saw an article in regards to a Father in New Brunswick having the right to appeal a guilty verdict in regards to spanking his 6 year old son who was acting out.  In 2004 the Supreme Court…Continue

I find Pachelbel Canon in D is especially soothing.

This isn't about classical music per se, but if you'd like to try lullaby versions of popular artists, you can try the Rockabye Baby series. I have the U2 and Tool, they also do the Beatles, Bob Marley, Guns N Roses, Metallica and many…

I wish someone had told me that...I starved and was thirsty for the first month until I "woke" up enough to put 2 and 2 together and realize maybe just maybe keeping stashes might be a good idea.

Good luck!  It is a strange, exciting, scary, and wonderful time.  If you haven't got your bags packed now is the time to do it, put them right by the door as hubby WILL forget them in a mad dash to get out the door cause the baby is…

My favorite gift was the knitted blanket that my auntie sent me.  Sounds simple but my Grandma had knitted it over 10 years ago before she passed away.  I bawled when I got it as it meant my daughter got a present from Great-Grandma. …

It is true you will be hungry ALOT especially if you are breastfeeding.  I wish someone had suggested that to me. (item 2).  My girlfriend was amazing and made sure I had a large supply of feminine products on hand and my mother in law…

Rememberance Day

Today is a day set aside each year to take a moment to remember those that have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom and the families who made an even bigger one by loving them enough to support them in their decision to fight for those who can't even if it meant losing their loved one. I sit here and think about what I want to teach my daughter as she gets older about this day.  How can I make her understand that even though we have the freedom to learn, to speak out, to disagree there…See More

I am pro-spanking in extreme cases.  We use time-outs and I find that those work great.  There are times where my son acts out way to much and one smack on the bum will smarten him up.

I am in the mix of things.  She is not gaining weight the way they want her to (tiny little thing she is) and so I am still doing some purees with her so that I know she is getting what she needs.  This led to a nice weight gain in a month…

Coming from a chronic nail biter for as long as I can remember I have tried everything!!!  What I do know is that it started as a nervous tick.  When I was nervous or unsure I would bite my nails.  Now it is such a habit that I…

I think the dumbest punishment I ever got was being made to stand in the corner and count to 200 and not move a muscle.  I don't know about you but when I stand still for long periods of time I tend to sway...needless to say everytime I…

I respect parents who are willing to discipline their children in and out of the home.  Just because you are in public does NOT mean that your child can get away with anything they wouldn't get away with at home.  Good for you Shawn…

I use time outs, and in severe cases (like trying to touch my hot stove, or other dangerous act) a spank. I only ever use my hand so I can judge how hard I am dusting his bum.  Growing up my parents had a belt or spoon, and they told me they…

Camping #2

Posted on September 5, 2011 at 10:02pm 0 Comments

We went camping this weekend for the second time this year with our 7 1/2 month old.  She was AMAZING!!  But then she is our child.

The nights were chilly but days were beautiful and we couldn't have asked for a better weekend.  The company for the most part was great and we had a good time.  Baby Daddy really enjoys connecting with his friends and I go along to make him happy.

This weekend just solidified for me how I do and do NOT want to raise my little princess.  Whining… Continue
